Hi,
may be this is the wrong Forum, for its not directly a developers question, but the understanding of this dependency is propably helpful, and perhaps only developers know the dependencydetails.
Suppose you create a document based on a template (dot or dotx), then inside the document the path to this template is stored. You can verify this in Word via Options/Add-Ins, chosing "Template" in the Manage Combobox and open the Dialog.
Here is a screenshot of the Dialog with the templatepath
The question is, do Word need any Information from this template from this path, to visualize the document always in the form it was created based on this template ?
Or in other words, if the template is deleted, is it then to be expected, that the layout is changed due to missing Fonts, paragraf Information, etc. which Comes originally from the template ?
Or is the template only needed for the creationprocess, and after the document is created all necessary layoutinformation is part of the document, and a missing template doesn't matter ?
I know there seems to be a very sofisticated functionality inside word, that potentially a document can be updated after the template changed. But I have never met someone who really use this Feature. Of course in this case, the dependency is obvious. But as Long as this Special Feature is not used, what about the layoutbehaviour of a document, where the original template is no longer available ?
Many thanks to those who bring light in this dependency issue.
